A study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology found that participants who were given roses showed an increase in positive emotions and a decrease in negative emotions. The study also found that the participants who were given roses reported feeling more connected to others and more appreciated.

The study’s lead author, Nancy Etcoff, commented on the findings, saying that “the simple act of giving or receiving roses can boost positive emotions, reduce negative emotions, and make us feel more connected to others.”
